Our free Beach=Culture events take place at 6:30 pm, with the Marion Davies Guest House open beginning at 5:15 pm. NEW! Parking is free for these events.
January 11: "Mr. Shaw Goes to Hollywood"
What happens when George Bernard Shaw is trust into a whirlwind 3-hour tour of Hollywood, including a chance encounter with Marion Davies? Find out in this staged reading of Mark Saltzman's effervescent comedy. Directed by Daniel Hening.

January 18: "Shaherezad in Santa Monica"
Poet Majid Naficy debuts his lyrical verse drama surrounding the romantic and immigrationary travails of the poet Shahram, his lover Shaherezad, and the new man who comes between them. This is the third and final event of Mr. Naficy's Beach House Residency, and will also feature live music.

Artist in Residence: Majid Naficy
Our first Artist in Residence at the Beach House is poet Majid Naficy. In political exile from Iran since the early 1980s, his work is both lyrical and timely. In his words, "My body lives in L.A., but my soul is still rummaging through the ruins of a lost revolution back in Iran." Majid Naficy is the author 2 collections of poetry in English and over 20 books of poetry and essays in Persian. He will be working on a new collection of poetry while he is in residence through January.

Docent Tours
Learn about the rich history of the Beach House from a Santa Monica Conservancy docent. Tours are free, no reservation required.
NOTE: Group tours larger than 15 people are not available at this time.

Vista Santa Monica
The second exhibition in the Beach=Culture series showcases work that captures the essence of Santa Monica. Works range from conceptual to nostalgic to fantastic... all expanding upon the rich stories of life in the City by the Sea. Artists include long-time residents who have helped shape the vibrant cultural landscape that Santa Monica enjoys.
On display in the Event House through April. Open every Monday and 2nd Saturday, 11 am - 3 pm.
