Beach Walk & Sketch

Beach Walk & Sketch
Love the beach? Have an eye for detail? Bring your sense of adventure and take to the sands to walk and sketch the natural wonders of Santa Monica State Beach.  Binoculars, drawing boards and newsprint will be provided, or bring your own easy to carry sketching tools.

Snowy Plover Beach Ecology Walk
Looking for a new holiday tradition? Explore the habitat and life cycles of the federally threatened snowy plover, a small white bird that makes Santa Monica and surrounding beach cities its home this time of year. Binoculars will be provided, or bring your own!

Family Field Trip Beach Walk
Sign your permission slip for fun! We'll head to the beach to explore slimy seaweed, sand crabs, beach hoppers, gulls, snowy plovers and grebes! Recommended for ages 5 and up, with parent or guardian in attendance. Binoculars and field guides will be available for extra fun.

You're invited to a winter tradition at the Beach House! Happy Birthday Marion! pays tribute to the original Beach House resident, Marion Davies; actress, philanthropist, famed party host, and mistress of media tycoon WIlliam Randolph Hearst. Join the Santa Monica Conservancy and celebrate with vintage panache at Davies' 1928 Julia Morgan designed Guest House.
Event schedule will include a screening of the 1928 film Show People, music from the 20s & 30s by Janet Klein, and a birthday toast!  Check back in December for more information and reservations.
